AI Awards

The AI Awards celebrate outstanding AI research, innovation, and impact across Penn State.

The annual AI Awards is a University-wide competition that recognizes research excellence across multiple AI categories, including societal impact projects, outstanding undergraduate and graduate theses, and exceptional doctoral dissertations.

The awards are:

AI Societal Impact Award

This award will recognize an AI innovation that has the greatest potential for impact on society. It can be a peer-reviewed paper which has resulted in the development of software/hardware packages that benefit the broader community, a prototype that has influenced practice, enhanced educational outreach activities, or commercial start-up ideas, or a project that makes a significant contribution to advancement of knowledge and practices related to socially responsible development and deployment of AI. Contributions that have received external recognition are eligible to participate.

Best Undergraduate (honors) Thesis or Senior Project related to AI within Penn State

This award acknowledges an undergraduate student’s research efforts in a project topic related to AI at Penn State.

Best Master’s Thesis in AI related discipline within Penn State

This award honors a master’s student for an innovative thesis on an AI-related topic.

Best Doctoral Dissertation in AI related discipline within Penn State

This award recognizes a doctoral student or students for their work on an AI-related topic.
