Features

AI Studio offers a set of features that support exploratory use of generative AI at Penn State. Capabilities include:

  • Multiple AI models in one place

Choose from a variety of AI models in a single, easy-to-use ONEchat interface that enables immediate access to conversational AI, model choice, and selected tools without needing to build an agent first.

  • More than a chatbot

Experiment with different AI models, use AI agents, or create your own—all within the same platform.

  • Switch and compare AI models

Toggle between multiple AI models within the same chat to compare responses, tone, and approaches.

  • Experiment safely in a secure environment

AI Studio gives you the flexibility to explore AI tools in a safe, supported environment that public AI tools can’t provide. Test prompts, refine outputs, and explore AI tools knowing your data is secure within a Penn State–managed platform aligned with institutional privacy and data protection expectations.

  • AI agents

Use Penn State-provided platform agents or create personal agents to support specific tasks or workflows.

  • Flexible applications

AI Horizons

AI Horizons is an online community of practice with over 1,100 faculty and staff dedicated to exploring the transformative impact of generative AI on higher education. Collaborate with other AI Studio users in the AI Horizons Community of Practice in Teams.

Personal Chat Usage

Usage limits are necessary to ensure that AI Studio is available as a shared resource for all University community members.

Your individual usage percentage appears at the top of your AI Studio window. The tokens used will vary depending on the length and complexity of the questions and responses. Individual usage limits reset on the first day of each month. Once the usage limit is met, you will no longer be able to use the tool until it resets.

Data Protection

Unlike public AI tools, AI Studio operates within a protected, Penn State-managed environment. This allows you to interact with advanced AI models, create AI-powered workflows or agents, and work with approved data sources while maintaining appropriate safeguards for institutional and personal information. Follow Penn State’s information classification guidelines to ensure data is handled appropriately. Learn more about Penn State’s information classification levels and what can (and cannot) be shared in AI tools.
